Maur Ennis Bettman, wife of Alfred Bettman, veterinarian and local rancher, died on January 21, 2013. She was 86 years old. Educated at the Convent of Sacred Heart in Torresdale, Pennsylvania, she graduated from Barnard and received a master’s degree from San Francisco State College. She attended Trinity College in Dublin and was a Joycean Scholar and a prize-winning author of short stories that appeared in many literary journals. A pilot, she was a member of the Petaluma Pilots Association. Mrs. Bettman leaves three children, Iphigena, Maur, and Alfred and three grandchildren, Richard Tavernetti M.D., Edward Tavernetti of San Francisco and Petaluma and Alice Elisabeth Stowe of Sebastopol. The family prefers contributions to the Blanid Bettman Memorial Fund at the Petaluma Public Library at 100 Washington Street, Petaluma, CA 94952.
